    Tomb Raider (2018)

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished years earlier. Hoping to solve the mystery of her father's disappearance, Croft embarks on a perilous journey to his last-known destination -- a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan. The stakes couldn't be higher as Lara must rely on her sharp mind, blind faith and stubborn spirit to venture into the unknown.

Yall are all idiots...of course the movie is based on the game...which is brand new, and has to do with how Lara became who she is in Tomb Raider! Obviously they could not use Angelina Jolie because it is impossible to use an older actress to play a young Lara...small minds!!

This is not the tomb raider that angelina played because this is base on the new tomb raider game by square enix so if you didnt played the new tomb raider defenitive edition u wont understand it, the story really exact the way the game was may be the next part will be "the rise of the tomb raider "same in the game which is the part 2 of it.

It is horrible plus terrible. This is not Lara Croft. A far cry from the Angelina Jolie version. The rating should have been a 3 or 2.

My only true, major complaint: There is nothing about this that is Lara Croft or Tomb Raider, other than in name. It is actually a major shame, considering they had a wonderful basis to go off of (the reboot series of games). Instead, they took the main plot, hacked off the important bits and made it into the most terribly average Hollywood puke they could manage to spew out. No monsters, nothing supernatural. Just another goddamn virus movie taking over a perfectly good title. For reference, see what Hollywood did to Doom. It's the same thing. Mindless action and a hack attempt at making it watchable. More effort was put into the trailer than the effort to make it a motion picture.

Terrible lighting choices and directing. Terrible cast acting for Laura. She's a pansy in this one. She should've been dead first 5 seconds. She seemed to have no useful skills, and there was 95% just terrible fighting scenes. Original Croft is nothing like this one. They're actually good.

Roar Uthaug for contract killers or mercenaries they sure do miss a lot of shots at point blank. They get destroyed by a japanese fisherman and a girl who can shoot arrows and ride a bicycle and is an amateur at mma. Poor directing for a film that was good because of the actors.

"Tomb Raider," stuffed though it is with curses, vaults, and locks that cry out for secret keys, is not really about a legendary quest, or family honor. It's about Alicia Vikander.

There's no way to hate a movie that has spiked poles, booby-trapped caves and zombies, but you can fault it for not trying as hard as it should.

    Village Voice

    March 16, 2018

[Vikander] invests herself in Lara Croft, and the filmmakers, unlike the ones Jolie got saddled with, frame her with awe rather than lust. Now if only they could bring some of that awe to the tombs...

For a while, it looked like director Roar Uthaug was going to deliver a video game movie that transcended the genre, mostly through the neat trick of having his ass-kicking heroine be driven by the thoroughly human desire to be Daddy's little girl again.

    Christian Science Monitor

    March 16, 2018

Tomb Raider, sloppily directed by Roar Uthaug, would not be worth watching without Vikander, who darts, leaps, and pummels her way through this mediocre escapade with a winning fierceness

Like your copy of the original Playstation game, this "Tomb Raider" already feels like it's covered in dust.

In a feature that's primarily a formulaic reboot, rendering Lara Craft as flesh and blood instead of a cartoonish fantasy makes a difference.

One the best compliments you can give this film is that within the first five minutes you completely forget about any other incarnations of Lara Croft.

Modern, gritty, action packed and led by a leading lady who can kick-ass and bring depth with equal power.
